The following is notes and tips I've applied recently in my successful job search. Mindset via Podcast In 2013 I was lacking in a social life and had trouble adapting to a new country and new dynamic as a father. I simply went onto iTunes top ten podcast and stumbled upon the School of Greatness by Lewis Howes and The One You Feed. These two podcast substituted for my lack of community, and provided refined mindset and positivity to keep a sustainable attitude. If you are the average of your 5 closest friends, you can also mold your mindset to be the average of the 5 podcast you listened to. The people in my group may repeat themselves and keep it cheery, but who wants a Chicken Little. Trust me I’ve worked with a Chicken Little, once that’s shit is airborn it changes direction and comes your way, and that’s an itch you don’t want to scratch. Standout 2.0 I picked this up at Dubai airport on a lark, and this book had a great impact on my growth. There was a colleagu...
Recently I picked up Lewis Howes twitter feed for how to turn off the noise, maybe episode 293 a five minute friday (which are genius by the way). I love Lewis Howes, he threw a rope ladder down into my well and helped me climb out of a period of darkness and reach new heights. However, I find limitations with the podcast/blogging medium. Mostly because its a lot of content stretched out over time, whereas a book is a lot of content compactly packaged for a shorter lead time. Thus I drew the parallel from a Keith Farazzi story in Never Eat Alone, from Newt Gingrich. A Lion can feast on field mice all day, but will never satisfy his appetite, sometimes he has to get off his ass and catch an antelope.
Therefore, As the 20's might be for learning and 30's for earning, I would reckon, feed on podcast early, but at a certain point you need to switch to a greater ROI via books, and 10x this ROI by using Blinkits.
If your transition into your thirties includes a couple stumbles along the way. First, your only human and welcome to the club. Second, this is a great time to tap into inspirational figures, Lewis Howes or The One your Feed, or perhaps straight to the godfather himself Tony Robbins, whose Breakthrough App? is absolute genius and packed with amazing content.
Mentorbox is an interesting "hack", but I think I would rather use Tim Ferriss's list of books to find a thought leader that inspires me and follow the books they thought were instrumental.
I will update this with the Books I have read since December of 2013? when I went AWOL on Facebook intentionally in efforts to replace that time with reading a good book. Funny enough, I instead filled it with LinkedIn, which was not wasted time but would be hypocritical of me to get on my high horse about facebook.
